Monitor Adjustments
Check monitor manual on how to access controls.
Adjust contrast and brightness settings to highest levels.
All shades in the 20 step grayscale should now be distinguishable from adjacent shades.
Lower brightness level slightly just to the point that you can no longer distinguish any difference between the 2 darkest steps.
Please note: The above adjustments are designed to show how my images would appear in printed form, if illuminated by a fairly bright light source, such as indirect light from an open window on a sunny day. If you find these settings to bright or uncomfortable for general viewing, adjust accordingly.
