Color Depth and Screen Resolution Settings
Color and resolution settings can be found through the Display icon on the Control panel. Once you are in the Display dialog box, there are lots of things to play with, such as screen savers and wallpaper, and you can do so without getting into much trouble. Just write down your original settings so that in case something looks funny, you can get back to your original settings. To change color depth or screen resolutions, do this:
Click Start, mouse over Settings, click Control Panel, double-click the Display icon, click the Settings tab.
Change the appropriate settings (which are limited by your video card).
When you click apply or OK, you will be asked to either make changes with or without restarting your computer (some programs may not work properly without restart, however both Netscape and Internet Explorer work fine for me) and you will be warned that the screen will go dark.
Once the screen comes back, you will be asked if you want to keep the settings. If you do nothing, your computer will revert back to old settings automatically in about 15 seconds.
